Phyllis has lived in Louisville most of her life, but was born in Chicago. She is the matriarch of a large and loving family of five children, seven stepchildren, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 2016 Phyllis’s husband Jerry died. Due to her work as a bereavement facilitator at Hosparus, she realized she would have to lean into her grief with full force to get to the other side. Her desire to grow in mindfulness meditation practice led her to the Earth and Spirit Center. She credits the ESC community for helping her to re-enter her life with a new purpose and an open heart. Phyllis loves to travel, read, and take long walks in nature among trees. Her passion is enriching her inner life, her family, Mother Earth, and Africa. Her mission is to become the person she is meant to be with grace and dignity.
Phyllis graduated from Indiana University. She is a spiritual and retreat director. She studied the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius under the guidance of the Jesuits of Milford, Ohio.
Phyllis was the Associate Director of the Office of Spirituality for the Archdiocese of Louisville.
