For the first sixteen centuries of Christian tradition, contemplative prayer was the goal of Christian spirituality. Centering Prayer – a simple form of deep, disciplined, silent listening to the divine – is an attempt to recover and renew ancient Christian prayer practices. While not identical to mindfulness meditation, Centering Prayer has many similarities.
This four-hour introductory workshop, presented in collaboration with Contemplative Outreach Ltd, will help you:
- Understand the historical roots and theology of Centering Prayer
- Learn the basic methods of Centering Prayer
- Practice Centering Prayer with an experienced facilitator
- Become aware of the fruits of a regular Centering Prayer practice
