Our Story
In 2015, volunteers and staff at the Passionist Earth & Spirit Center (PESC) recognized that many people in our community faced barriers to accessing meditation classes. In response, they created Mindfulness Mentors to bring the benefits of mindfulness directly to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it.
What began with just a half-dozen volunteers has grown into a dedicated, all-volunteer team of PESC meditation students and others who share a commitment to compassion and service.

Who We Serve
Mindfulness Mentors partners with local organizations to bring mindfulness practices to youth and adults navigating challenging circumstances. Our participants include people experiencing homelessness, individuals with emotional or physical disabilities, refugees, children in foster care or the justice system, and others facing significant life challenges.
By meeting people where they are, we strive to make mindfulness accessible to all.
The Power of Mindfulness
Mindfulness practices cultivate self-awareness, compassion for ourselves and others, and the ability to approach life with greater clarity and balance. Research suggests that mindfulness can help people manage stress, strengthen relationships, and support learning and decision-making.
Our mentors work in teams to offer weekly sessions tailored to each group’s needs. Through guided practices and experiential activities, participants explore mindfulness, develop tools for greater self-awareness and self-appreciation, and support one another as they build a meditation practice.
Become a Mindfulness Mentor
Help us bring mindfulness and compassion to our community.
We are recruiting volunteers to join the Mindfulness Mentors team and share simple, accessible mindfulness practices with local groups. If you are passionate about mindfulness and want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, we invite you to learn more.
Join us for an upcoming volunteer orientation and discover how you can become part of this compassionate community.
