Class Description
Finding a Path Forward: Job Equity and Financial Empowerment
In this fourth part of a series focused on Louisville Urban League’s “A Path Forward,” we’ll examine job equity and financial challenges for Black Louisvillians. We’ll also learn of the work being done to create better opportunities for Black individuals and businesses. We’ll clarify the role of white people as allies in the cause of justice. Through readings, recordings, and guest speakers, we’ll better understand our current situation and how we have arrived where we are. Finally, we’ll identify actions we can take to support the implementation of “A Path Forward” and help reverse systems of racial oppression.
Guest speakers for the class will include Dr. Kish Price, new CEO of the Louisville Urban League; Dave Christopher, founder of AMPED, West Louisville’s first Black business tech incubator; Dr. Wayne Meaux, Chair of the Business/Entrepreneurship Department at Simmons College; and Tawana Bain, founder of the Global Economic Diversity Development Initiative and CEO of TBain & Co, as well as owner of the Black Jockey Lounge and Today’s Woman magazine. We hope you’ll join us!
